G. Spanakis MD, MSc

The physician George I. Spanakis was born in Heraklion, Crete in 1972. Introduced by Panhellenic exams at the Medical Department of the Faculty of Health Sciences of the University of Crete from which he received his medical degree. Completed the rural Health Service in the Centre of Arkalochori serving volunteered and neighbouring distal dispensaries (Partira and Skoinias). He worked within the framework of the specialty in a ” Pathological clinic of Venizeleion Hospital of Heraklion, in the psychiatric ward and the Neurological clinic of the University Hospital of Heraklion. Received a title from the Neurology specialty University Neurological Clinic in Heraklion under the supervision of Prof. A. Plaitakis.

He received a master degree in Neuroscience (Master in Neurosciences) with honors from the Interdepartmental Program of basic and Clinical Neurosciences, University of Crete. He is currently working as a private neurologist. He has been involved in Clinical Neurology and Neuropsychiatry (diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation) with in-hospital and out-hospital patients, Emergency Neurology on an increased care for Vascular Strokes and other neurological diseases. He worked in the laboratory of clinical neurophysiology (ilektroneyrografima, evoked potentials, electromyography,electroencephalography) under the supervision of Professor of Neurophysiology, University of Crete Mr G. Amoiridi.

Also has knowledge of basic research, molecular biology and genetics of neurological diseases. Has been involved with personal papers and papers at conferences andseminars. Is an active member of the Hellenic Neurology society, the Greek society for Headache and other medical societies and clubs. He was a member of the Scientific Committee of the company and related disorders Alzheimer Disease Greece and has given speeches in KAPI, parishes and cultural centers for specialty topics. He speaks fluent English and Italian. Works with many clinics and workshops both at home and abroad.
